There are a number of diseases that are mentioned as STDs. Generally, STDs are broken down into four categories depending on the source of the infection; namely, bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal. Let us see each one of them.

Bacterial infections

  • Chlamydia

  • Syphilis

  • Shigella

  • Bacterial Vaginosis

  • Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU)

  • Cervicitus and Urinary Tract Infections

  • Lyme Disease

Viral Infections

  • HIV/AIDs

  • Hepatitis

  • HSV 1 and 2 (herpes)

  • HPV (genital warts)

  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

Parasitic Infections

  • Pubic lice

  • Trichomoninasis (Trich)

Fungal Infections

  • Yeast Infections

All of the above are curable, when it is diagnosed early and proper course of treatment is followed.
