You're mad with desire / it's been ages / you've been propositioned — thirty-nine positions pulled from four classical traditions and sorted by which of those three is true tonight. Filter to what fits.
Across the Kamasutra, the Ananga Ranga, the Perfumed Garden and the Taoist catalogue, we've mapped several hundred positions. This page does something different: it pulls thirty-nine of them out of their chapters and sorts them by the only question that matters in the moment — what kind of wanting is this?
Because the classical texts make this distinction themselves. Al-Nafzawi flags certain positions as arising from urgency rather than planning. Vatsyayana marks others as belonging to reunion after separation. All four traditions reserve a substantial run for when she takes the lead. The three triggers below are theirs, not ours.
Every specimen carries its source badge, its posture and effort data, and a link through to the full chapter — so anything that appeals can be read in context.
Almost every position under Trigger One is defined by not wanting to pause — which is precisely why the pausing should already be unnecessary. Protection and a water-based lubricant within arm's reach is the one practical thing that separates these positions working from these positions being interrupted.
Two to approach carefully: Late Spring Donkey (347) is a full forward fold that strains her lower back, and Seagulls on the Wing (303) has her head hanging back. Keep both brief and come out of them slowly.
Thirteen positions that need no furniture, no setup and almost no time — standing, braced, or arrived at in whatever room you happen to be in. Every classical tradition catalogues these, and every one frames them the same way: this is what couples do when nothing slower will do.

| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | Medium |
He stands while she bends forward from a wall, hands braced on the floor or against it and feet spread for stability. It requires no furniture and almost no setup, which is why the text associates it with sudden urgency in whatever room you happen to be standing in. Depth comes from his stance rather than from force.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | Medium |
A named classical posture: she bends forward with one hand braced on the floor while he stands behind, holding her free hand for stability and spreading her stance for the angle. Entirely unplanned by design — the text presents it as what happens when neither of you gets further than the doorway.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | Medium |
She braces flat against a wall and angles her hips back; he stands behind and holds her hips, adjusting his own stance for height rather than asking her to change posture. Nearly identical to The Scholar, differing only in how far she bends — and the Kamasutra catalogues both because that single variable changes the angle.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | High |
He lifts her, she twines her legs around him, and he leans back against a wall to distribute the weight. Al-Nafzawi's instruction to lean against something is unusually practical advice for a fifteenth-century manual — and it is what makes the position sustainable beyond a few seconds.

| Posture | Over a stool |
| Effort | High |
She leans over a low stool or firm block so only her midsection is supported, hands and feet resting on the floor; he settles behind with legs extended, one hand braced and one at her hips. Because her limbs are carrying her, she has limited scope to move or adjust.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | Medium |
He leans back against a wall with legs spread; she leans back against him facing away, moving herself forward and back while he holds her hips. The wall carries the work, so unlike most standing positions this one genuinely lasts. Built for speed and confined spaces — the text names it for taking the opportunity.

| Trigger | You're mad with desire |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Rear entry |
| Effort | High |
She crouches with hands braced on the floor while he stands behind, holding her hips. The bracing is what makes it stable — without hands firmly planted, this arrangement drifts within a minute. The tiger signals the register: this is the most assertive entry in that half of the Taoist catalogue.

| Posture | Rear entry |
| Effort | High |
She rests on all fours with her weight settled onto her forearms and body angled forward; he kneels upright behind. The white tiger is one of the four celestial animals of Chinese cosmology, guardian of the west — the name signals power rather than mere rear entry.

| Posture | Rear entry |
| Effort | High |
She kneels with her back arched and head resting on the surface, arms stretched forward; he kneels behind and leans in with a hand at her hips. Lowering the head deepens the angle considerably compared with the flat-back version, so a pillow under her head and chest makes the arch sustainable.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | High |
She stands and bends fully forward with her hands on the floor, forming a V; he stands upright behind, holding her hips. The deep bend produces a distinctive angle but puts real strain on her hamstrings and lower back — this is a short-duration position by nature.

| Trigger | You're mad with desire |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | Medium |
She stands facing a wall with legs apart and hands braced against it; he stands upright behind. Requires no furniture and almost no space — the text names lifts, terraces and small rooms specifically. The wall brace is what makes it stable enough to sustain.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | High |
Both stand facing each other and press together; he holds her hips while she adjusts her height on her toes to find the fit. Height matching is the entire challenge here — a step, a low platform or simply the right footwear solves what technique cannot.

| Posture | Standing |
| Effort | Medium |
He stands with his back to a wall, body stretched; she stands with one leg lifted, one hand on the wall and the other on his thigh. Built for very short encounters in confined spaces — the text names corridors, garages and backyards. It needs no setup, no furniture and almost no time.
Thirteen deep-contact positions the classical texts associate specifically with reunion after separation. Vatsyayana, al-Nafzawi and Kalyana Malla all flag certain postures this way — and they're consistently the ones built on lifted legs and full weight.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | High |
She lies back, raises her legs and presses them against his chest while lifting her hips slightly clear of the bed; he kneels and leans forward, holding her legs. Lifting the hips is what distinguishes it from a simple legs-raised arrangement — and Vatsyayana associates it specifically with reunion after separation.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | Very High |
She positions her legs over his shoulders near his ears, lifts her hips and draws her knees toward her chest, holding them there. One of the deepest-contact arrangements in the entire catalogue, which makes gradual entry more important here than anywhere else.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Prone |
| Effort | Low |
She lies flat on her stomach; he enters from behind, supported on his arms. Vatsyayana names it for the elephant, an animal Indian tradition associates with lifelong pair bonding and unhurried temperament — and the position matches: slow, conversational, entirely unsuited to being rushed.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Ananga Ranga |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | High |
She lies on her back and rests both feet on his shoulders, forming the Z-shape the text describes; he kneels and holds her for support. Among the deepest-contact positions in the Ananga Ranga, which means depth should be found gradually — the text's own framing is that she guides how far it goes.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Ananga Ranga |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | Medium |
A close variant of the Level-Feet: rather than feet on shoulders, she bends her knees more and rests her legs against his chest while he kneels with knees spread. The text catalogues it separately because chest contact rather than shoulder contact changes the angle noticeably — and it needs markedly less flexibility.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Ananga Ranga |
| Posture | Elevated |
| Effort | High |
She rests on her shoulders and lifts her hips, holding her own legs to form the bridge; he kneels and draws her close, holding her hips. Her self-hold is essential — the text notes plainly that without it the position can't be sustained. Movement should be slow and gentle rather than vigorous.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Ananga Ranga |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | High |
He kneels and lifts her torso clear of the ground, holding her hips; she grips his hips with her thighs and raises herself to meet him. Kneeling positions let him use knee leverage rather than arm strength, which is why this family recurs so often in the Ananga Ranga.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Perfumed Garden |
| Posture | Rear entry |
| Effort | High |
The classical rear-entry arrangement: she on all fours, he kneeling upright behind, holding her hips. Named in al-Nafzawi's numbered sequence and the anchor of an entire posture family — the four that follow it in the text are all variations. Her hip height determines the angle entirely.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Perfumed Garden |
| Posture | Prone |
| Effort | High |
A pillow beneath her hips raises the angle while he lies over her, holding her hands. The text describes alternating pressure — periods of full weight punctuated by brief relief — which is genuinely unusual guidance for a manual of that era. Faces stay close enough to talk throughout.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Perfumed Garden |
| Posture | Rear entry |
| Effort | Medium |
The third named posture of Part 3: she on all fours, he kneeling upright behind, holding her hips. He can lift her hips to maintain height as the session continues, and one hand stays free to reach around. The anchor position of the rear-entry family across every manual in the series.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | Perfumed Garden |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | Low |
Both kneel upright, he behind her, holding her hips and stomach while she rests her hands on his thighs. Al-Nafzawi names it for the moment of arousal becoming unmistakable through contact alone. The movement is slow and shallow by necessity, and both bodies stay pressed together throughout.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Push-up |
| Effort | Medium |
She lies on her back with one leg lifted and drawn toward her chest; he holds a push-up position with hands braced near her shoulders. Only one leg is raised, which narrows the angle rather than opening it — the mechanical origin of the name, and the reason it produces a notably close fit.

| Trigger | It's been ages |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Face to face |
| Effort | Medium |
A missionary variant with one of her legs between his, his hands braced near her shoulders. The single-leg placement narrows the fit noticeably. The name refers to Taoist retention practice — the tradition's teaching that controlling release preserves vitality, applied here to a position built for duration.
Thirteen positions where she leads. When the invitation comes from her, the right answer is a posture that hands her pace, depth and angle — and all four traditions supply plenty, usually with an explicit instruction to him to stay still and receive.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Face to face |
| Effort | Medium |
She opens one leg away while keeping the other flat as he settles over her. The text frames this specifically as a second-session position — the slower, longer encounter that follows the first, with more cuddling, conversation and caressing woven through.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Her on top |
| Effort | Medium |
He sits or reclines; she settles over him facing away, holding his thighs for support, controlling depth, pace and angle entirely. The mare is one of the Kamasutra's three female size classifications — its use here ties the position directly to Vatsyayana's compatibility theory.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | Medium |
He kneels with legs wide, leaning back on his hands; she lowers onto him, holding his thighs, and controls everything from there. Because he is fixed in position, he genuinely cannot lead — the text notes his only contribution is to say aloud how it feels, which it treats as part of the technique.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Block-assisted |
| Effort | High |
He leans back with his hips resting on a low block and his feet planted on the floor; she positions over him with her legs on the block and hands braced on his thighs, moving forward and back. The block sets a height that changes the angle entirely — and she controls direction and depth throughout.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Kamasutra |
| Posture | Kneeling |
| Effort | Medium |
He kneels with legs wide and leans back onto his hands; she lowers herself onto him and rides, holding his thighs. Named for a tall, straight Indian tree with a distinctive spread — the name describes his kneeling posture precisely. His only contribution is to say how it feels.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Ananga Ranga |
| Posture | Squatting |
| Effort | High |
She lowers herself into a squat over him with knees folded against his stomach, holding his chest for balance while he supports her knees. Squatting demands real thigh strength, so this works in intervals. The name says the rest: the text frames it explicitly as role reversal.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Ananga Ranga |
| Posture | Her on top |
| Effort | Medium |
She sits over him with his knees bent behind her and moves in circles rather than up and down, alternating which hand holds which knee. Circular motion produces continuous contact rather than rhythmic contact — a genuinely different sensation, and the closing entry of Kalyana Malla's catalogue.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Perfumed Garden |
| Posture | Seated |
| Effort | Medium |
He leans back with legs spread and knees bent; she sits astride him with legs crossed, controlling pace, depth and angle entirely. The text is unambiguous that his role here is to yield it — notable for a manual so often criticised for its male perspective.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | Perfumed Garden |
| Posture | Perpendicular |
| Effort | Low |
A gentle perpendicular variation: she lies with knees bent, he enters from the side at right angles, resting on one elbow. Neither partner's hands are occupied and neither is working hard — the text presents it as something that emerges from a long conversation in bed rather than a position you set out to try.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Side-lying |
| Effort | Medium |
She lies on her back with one leg folded over his waist while he lies on his side, leaning on one arm with the other free to caress. The kirin is a mythical Chinese creature signifying good fortune. Face-to-face contact, a free hand, and an angle deep enough to satisfy — a rare three-way combination.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Block-assisted |
| Effort | High |
She lies back over a firm stool or cushion block that supports only her hips and lower back, head hanging clear, knees bent wide; he kneels upright and holds her hips. The block sets a height and angle no floor position matches.

| Trigger | You've been propositioned |
|---|---|
| Source | The Tao |
| Posture | Seated |
| Effort | Medium |
He takes a semi-seated position leaning against a wall with one foot planted; she sits over him facing away, using her hands on the wall for leverage. Built for compact spaces and short encounters — the text names lifts, small rooms and secluded corners. She controls the pace because the position gives him no leverage.

| Posture | Squatting |
| Effort | High |
He kneels upright; she squats over him with bent knees and toes pressed down, riding while he holds her hips and works her neckline. Squatting demands real thigh strength from her, so it runs in intervals — but the full-body contact and his free hands make the effort worthwhile.

Kamasutra Part 2 · Part 3 (Purushayita) · Part 4 (Ladder) · Ananga Ranga Part 1 · Part 2 · Perfumed Garden Part 2 · Part 3 · Tao Part 2 · Tao Part 4 · All Sex Positions
The classical catalogues are organised by posture family — supine, seated, standing, kneeling. That's how a scholar sorts things. It is not how anyone chooses a position at eleven o'clock on a Friday. Sorted by trigger instead, the same material answers a question you might actually be asking: we want each other right now, and there's a wall. Thirteen positions, four traditions, six centuries of company.
All four classical traditions — Vatsyayana's Kamasutra, Kalyana Malla's Ananga Ranga, al-Nafzawi's Perfumed Garden and the Taoist catalogue. Every specimen card carries a source badge and links through to the full chapter it belongs to, so anything that appeals can be read in its proper context.
Three axes that combine: trigger, source text and effort level. 'Mad with desire' plus 'Low effort' returns the positions that need nothing at all; 'The Tao' plus 'High' returns the demanding Taoist entries. The count updates live and empty sections hide themselves.
Filter to Low effort and you'll find The Announcement (235), The Quencher (211) and Elephant Position (92) — none requiring strength, flexibility or setup beyond a bed. Most of Trigger One needs only a wall.
Late Spring Donkey (347) is a full forward fold that strains her lower back — keep it brief and help her up slowly. Seagulls on the Wing (303) has her head hanging back, which sends blood to the head. Unfettered Congress (77) and Bridge of Pleasure (154) are deep-contact positions where depth should be found gradually.
Protection and a water-based lubricant. Almost every position under Trigger One is defined by not wanting to pause — which is exactly why the pausing should already be unnecessary.
Completely. Every order ships in plain, unmarked packaging with sender name CA Gain Healthcare — no product name or brand visible anywhere on the box. Delivering privately across India since 2010.
