Condom Anatomy - Top to Bottom

Condom is one of the inventions that touches lives of millions of people every day. This is similar to the invention of the bulb which changed the world. Condoms have definitely helped men and women enjoy lovemaking without having to worry about conception, which is certainly a great relief. There is no need to elaborate that more than 6 children are common in several families in India before the invention of condoms.

Since the invention of the first condom way back in 1850s, the condom has undergone sea change and it evolved with time. Now condoms are more comfortable, thinner and more reliable as advanced production technologies and testing procedures ensure condoms make sex enjoyable and free from conception worries. The current success rate of condoms is identified as 98.2%, which is pretty good. So, practically you can brush off conception worries when you indulge in lovemaking with a condom on.

As condom plays an important role in our lives, we shall understand its anatomy from top to bottom and everything in between. Please bear in mind that knowing about condom anatomy doesn’t make you a better performer directly, but it certainly helps you to use it to your advantage.

There are 4 distinct areas in each condom, namely

-          Base

-          Body

-          Head

-          Tip

Let us see each one in detail

Base

This part looks the same across all types of condoms regardless of the size, shape, type, brand or material used. The base of the condom has a thin ring like structure that is where the condom is rolled onto. You can see that when you take out the condom from the wrapper. The base plays an essential role for every condom. It allows the condom to stick in its place, it gets clinked onto your organ and thus prevents condom from slipping or sliding off. The base plays an important role in the functionality of the condom. The condom may be your favourite brand, but if the base is not properly made, then the condom will not serve its purpose.

The ring at the base expands enough to accommodate to slightly different organ sizes. So, practically you need not worry about a condom slipping off your organ, unless you have a micro penis. Condoms are made in standard sizes that base ring can comfortably accommodate penises of almost all men by stretching to required size. If you have a monstrous organ, then you may have to go for a larger sized condom.

How to determine a comfortable fit?

Condom base stretches to a comfortable range in which you won’t feel any strain or tightness in your organ. If the condom sits comfortably over your organ, that condom is right for you and you will naturally feel comfortable using it. When the condom is too tight, you will feel strain and it might also affect your erection. When you wear a condom and if you feel it is uncomfortable, then either the condom is too tight for you that you need to go for a larger condom.

Condoms come in four size categories – small, standard, large and extra-large. So, depending on the size of your organ, you can try all possible sizes and stick to the size of the condom that fits your organ comfortably.

Body

The portion of the condom that is between the base and to the length of the shaft is called body of the condom. Body is the portion where condom manufacturers can do all sort of value addition by placing studs or ribs or texture etc., this is an important portion that gets all the rubbing and thus any enhancement in that portion can lead to heightened pleasure for both partners. The body of the condom can be lubricated to get the in-and-out movements comfortable.

Head

The condom head it the portion which accommodates your penis head. As the head of the penis has most of the nerve ending and being most sensitive, condom head plays an important role during the sexual activity.

The head portion of the condom varies with various brands. In some condoms head portion is

-          Similar in width as the body of the condom

-          Little tapered to give a better fit for men with slightly bent head

-          Wider head for men with thicker penis head

Essentially the head portion of the condom should have freedom and should be most comfortable to accommodate your penis head. What you get in your pleasure barometer is what you experience in the head of your penis during lovemaking. Thus, head portion of the condom is designed in such a way to help users experience pleasure during sexual activity.

Tip

Tip of the condom is the most recognizable feature of the condom. Most of us are familiar with the term ‘reservoir end’. The tip again plays an important role during the sexual activity.

Key purposes of the condom tip

-          Minimizes the strain on the condom while you are involved in intense action

-          Collects semen when you throw it after the climax

-          It also helps you place put the condom over your organ. When you wear the condom, you need to hold the tip with one of your hand while roll the condom over your organ with the other hand.

-          Finally it allows you to grip the condom and remove it from your organ once you complete the game.

Now, condom brands are coming out with quite a few variations to the tip. A brand has recently brought out a tip in the shape of a ‘narrow light bulb’ and we can see more innovations coming in the near future.

Condom manufacturers are involved in consistent research to improve the design, comfort aspects and quality to ensure users experience heightened pleasure during sexual activity without having to compromise on the safety aspect. Condoms not only prevent unwanted pregnancies and protect against STDs / STIs, but also play a role in enhancing pleasure.
